Pandemic Portraits
These artworks were created in 2020 and 2021, during which the pandemic prompted me to explore alternative approaches to portraiture. When in-person sittings became unfeasible, I shifted my focus to self-portraits and eventually began capturing families in front of their residences in my neighborhood.
This series of Pandemic Portraits features neighbors in front of their homes in south Minneapolis, posed with children and pets, adjusting to a new normal of working and learning from home, frequently wearing masks, finding beauty in challenging times.
