Curatorial
The Somali Weaving festival celebrates the traditional art of master weavers from Somalia. Making decorative and functional hand-weavings into objects such as handbags and flags, these women create weavings without using tools or looms.
Several elder Somali weavers displayed and sold their works to the public in Pamela Gaard's exhibit, "Hey, Aren't You Somebody?" at the Hennepin History Museum, Minneapolis, MN.
